“The beauty of standing up for your rights is others see you
standing and stand up as well.” – Cassandra Duffy
LGBT people are living in an exciting time of acceptance like never before, which brings with it a new brand of hate as well. It is important for the lgbtq community and our allies to take action in order to preserve the progress we have already achieved, make our voices heard, and take the next steps toward equality.
Taking action doesn’t have to be extremely expensive, difficult, or time consuming. Even small actions can have big effects.

Contact Lawmakers & Agencies
WHAT THEY DO | Contacting elected officials is one of the best ways to speak out in favor of lgbtq equality. Elected officials are voted into office to work on behalf of their constituents – including citizens who are LGBT and ally individuals!
WHAT YOU CAN DO | Let your voice be heard by your elected officials! Regardless of your political affiliation – OR theirs – hold your local, state, and federal lawmakers to a standard of LGBT equality. Contact them via phone, mail, and email. (This resource from the ACLU is a helpful tool in learning how to write to elected officials!)

WHAT THEY DO | The National Equality Action Team (NEAT) is a coalition of national, regional and local organizations and individuals who mobilize their volunteers to take local action in support of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) community. The coalition engages in a robust field program, coordinated with local partners, to empower Americans no matter where they live to take local actions (like phone calls or door knocks) that lead to more communities winning equality and justice across the country.
